Wallpaper never left.

It just evolved.

Northwest Wall Designs is a second-generation, family-run wallpaper installation studio in Spokane, Washington. Since 1994, we’ve hand-hung non-wovens, vinyls, grasscloth, murals, and custom prints — and carefully removed and repaired existing paper — for homes, designers, and hospitality clients across the Pacific Northwest. Founded on the idea of elegance and care for workmanship, NWWD doesn’t just install wallpaper; we complete spaces.

Hailey treated the install like the room mattered as much to her as it did to us. Every match, every seam, exact.

We had four bidders. NWWD didn't oversell, didn't undersell. The work spoke for itself the next morning.
David Chen
Three years on the dining room paper and it still looks the day it was hung. I send everyone.

Three services. One standard.

Three crafts taught by the same hands. Whether you’re installing a new mural, removing decades-old paper, or repairing a single seam — every job is approached with the same patient eye for the small things that make a room read.

Wallpaper, made for the way you live.

Northwest Wall Designs is a second-generation wallpaper installation studio rooted in over thirty years of inherited craft. Hailey Hanson founded the studio in 2023, carrying forward the practice her mother began in Spokane in 1994 — and bringing it to the homes, designers, and luxury institutions of the Pacific Northwest.

Every install begins with a conversation about pattern, light, and how a room should feel when it is finished — and treats the wallpaper itself with the discipline and care of a luxury garment.

how we work.

Quiet, careful, in your home.

Every project follows the same four steps — because the difference between an install that lasts and an install that doesn’t is rarely the paper. It’s the preparation.

  1. Consultation

We talk through the room — the pattern, the wall, the timeline, the budget. We measure, evaluate the surface, and write a clear, line-item proposal so there are no surprises on install day.

  2. Preparation

Furniture is covered, floors are protected, and the room is set for a clean install. We arrive to walls that are ready to receive paper — smooth, painted or primed, and free of dust — so the finish reads as it should.

  3. Installation

The actual install — paper hung straight, seams matched, edges trimmed, the pattern carried cleanly across corners and around fixtures. Hands of a craftsperson who has done this for years.

  4. Walkthrough

Workspace cleaned, surfaces wiped down, and a final walkthrough together. The job isn’t finished until you can stand back, look at the room, and feel the difference.

questions, answered.

The things we hear most.

If your question isn’t here, write to us. We answer every email — usually within a day — and we’re happy to walk through your specific project.

  • Installation starts at $4 per square foot with a $150 minimum for smaller jobs. Total cost scales with the type of wallpaper (we work with non-wovens, vinyls, grasscloth, murals, and an assortment of specialty materials, and each hangs differently), the total square footage, ceiling height, and pattern-match complexity. Removal is priced separately by scope, since what's behind the paper matters as much as the size of the wall. After a free initial assessment, we provide a detailed, transparent quote — line items, materials, and timeline included — so you know the exact investment before we begin.

  • Walls should be clean, smooth, and either painted or primed before install day so the paper has a true surface to bond to. If you're not sure whether your walls are ready, send us a photo when you inquire and we'll let you know.

  • It depends on the condition of what’s currently up. In most cases we recommend removing the existing paper first — installing over old wallpaper risks adhesion problems and uneven seams. We also offer professional removal as a standalone service, so we can handle the whole sequence cleanly.

  • A single accent wall is often a one-day install. A full room ranges from one to three days depending on size, ceiling height, and pattern complexity. We give you a concrete timeline in the proposal so you can plan the rest of your project around it.

  • Yes — provided the wallpaper is rated for it. We have deep experience installing in bathrooms, powder rooms, kitchens, and other high-moisture environments, and we use moisture appropriate pastes so the finish lasts in those conditions.

  • Yes. Designer-led projects are a substantial part of our work. We collaborate with interior designers throughout Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and the broader Pacific Northwest — trade-friendly scheduling, clean job sites, and finished installations ready for portfolio photography.

  • We install all major brands and substrates. Suppliers we work with regularly include York, Spoonflower, Painted Paper, Livette’s, and McGee & Co. If you’re sourcing your own paper, we’re happy to advise on pattern selection, calculate yardage, and place the order on your behalf.

  • We generally don’t recommend peel-and-stick — it’s a temporary product with a limited lifespan. If you’ve already purchased peel-and-stick and can’t return it, we’ll install on a single-wall basis only.
